If you're 24 years old or under, you get PrEP for free. Changes to OHIP+ Coming April 1, 2019

OHIP+ is changing to focus on providing benefits to children and youth without private drug plans. Changes come into effect on April 1, 2019.

OHIP+ will provide free prescription medications to anyone that is 24 years old or younger and who does not have a private drug plan through school, an employer, parents plan or NIHB. You'll need a valid Ontario health card number and you don't pay anything out-of-pocket.

Update: Toronto-based PrEP Research Study Needs You

A research study to help increase access to PrEP has been launched in Toronto by St. Michael's Hospital - a leader in HIV treatment and research, funded in part by the Canadian HIV Trials. If you're considering PrEP, and you're gay, bisexual or trans, you are invited to participate. The study includes an optional survey, a 20 minute video and information about PrEP for you to take to your family doctor.

NEW: PrEP and nPEP Guideline for Canadian Doctors

New guidelines for prescribing PrEP and nPEP to prevent HIV infection have been laid out for Canadian doctors and other primary care practitioners by the Biomedical HIV Prevention Working Group of the CIHR Canadian HIV Trials Network. The guideline has been published in CMAJ. The guideline outlines how and when to prescribe PrEP and nPEP and will help increase awareness and access to research-based HIV prevention options, and decrease the incidence of HIV infection over time.
